The SETS (Safe Electric Traction System) enables the electrical sectioning and earthing of the contact line in traction systems. It is designed for tunnels exceeding 1,000 metres in length and for 3 kVdc and 2×25 kVac systems.
Its redundant architecture and fibre optic management ensure safety and operational continuity. The diagnostic modules and human-machine interface provide real-time control and efficient management of each manoeuvre.

The system consists of dedicated subsystems, including:

QS – Safety earthing control unit
UCS / DMxC – Safety earthing disconnect switch
QCC – Continuity control unit (SIL4 certified)
HMI – Human-machine interface
UCP – Safety earthing control system
DOTE – Central unit
UCS / IMS – Contact line isolation switch
SETS network – Redundant fibre optic network

The system is designed to ensure the safe earthing of the contact line during maintenance activities or emergencies in tunnels, enabling personnel to operate in complete safety.
